People with ADD do not all behave in the same way. Some are dreamy, drifty, checked out. Others are going continually, bouncing off the walls, a full tank of gas.
Some have no problem doing their favorite things, but when it comes to doing homework, household chores or balancing their checkbook, they may only be able to concentrate for a few minutes. Then something more interesting comes along and it’s all over.
Their environment often looks like the aftermath of a tornado. Remains of unfinished projects and stacks of papers and objects which appear to be in utter disarray. They lose things they need—“They are under that stack over there.” They cannot take in social cues, such as facial expressions, tone of voice, body language, etc. Often their attention drifts off and they totally miss what the other person is saying. As a result, they often have trouble making and keeping friends.
Hyperactivity can be present, but not always necessary. This excessive activity such as running, climbing, and other reckless activity can be exhausting just watching it.
Impulsivity is another feature that is often seen in ADD/ADHD. Patience is not a characteristic. They act first, think later. They often interrupt, blurt out sentences and talk too much. Sometimes they will push others away to get what they want.
Can Homeopathy help children and adults who tend to display the characteristics of disorganization, hyperactivity, impulsivity and difficulty concentrating as listed above? Absolutely.
As with any collection of symptoms, the correct homeopathic remedy is determined partially by looking at the cause of the lack of concentration.
Below is a table of potential remedies for healing the symptoms of ADD/ADHD. As always, homeopathy treats the person, not the disease. The list below should not be considered exhaustive, nor should it be used to determine your own remedy.
