Gout

Gout is a painful condition which is caused by a build up of uric acid crystals in the joints., called Hyperuricemia.  It usually occurs in small joints like your fingers and toes, but can also occur in the elbows and sometimes the knees.  Although not everyone gets gout, it is a largely a life style disease.  This is a period of time when there is an encouragement from media of all sorts to over-indulge, so Gout is making a reappearance.  Gout

Of course, if you are reading this page, you probably already know what Gout is and that it is painful and a nuisance.

In the times when the principles of  homeopathy were first being developed, Gout was quite common in the population of the wealthy and upper crust.  Because it is largely a lifestyle dis-ease, the affluent were the only ones who could really afford to overindulge, thus it was called the "disease of kings."  It has been recognized since 2500 BC.

With rich foods and alcohol now readily available and affordable, people from every social strata can and do suffer from Gout.

It is making such a comeback that one can see commercials for new Gout drugs on television.  You can be sure there is big potential payback or the drug companies wouldn't be doing that.

A quick scan of 500 or so electronic books shows 7,125 references to the positive effect of homeopathy on Gout, including writings by Samuel Hahneman, the founder of the principles of homeopathy.  These writings date back to the early 1800s.

Here are a few homeopathic remedies that are known to help Gout.

A common remedy for Gout is homeopathy's well-known over-indulgence remedy, Nux Vomica.  People who need Nux Vomica are usually successful, irritable people who need all sorts of external stimulation, usually in the form of food and alcohol--a perfect set up to develop Gout.

Another remedy is Colchicum autumnale, which is a fall blooming crocus and a member of the Lily family.  You may need this remedy for Gout if you feel like you have been pushed out of your position (Lily) and your best days have past you by.  Interestingly, colchicine, an alkaloid of Colchicum Autumnale, is used in Western medicine to treat gout.

Calcarea Carbonica is another common Gout remedy.  Calc Carb is a remedy for hard working, sweaty headed, stubborn individuals.  People who need Calc Carb have lots of bone and joint issues (it comes from the calcium inside an oyster shell) and this is one of them.

Bryonia, a common remedy for acute injuries and illnesses, also helps gout.  As usual with Bryonia, the pain is worse from motion and the person who needs Bryonia for gout is probably worried about money.

Gout is definite a condition which requires assistance of a trained, professional homeopath.  It is a chronic disease so can't be treated acutely.  Contact us at 651-748-1556 to get help with Gout.
