Are you among the many wondering if there is something that can help your PTSD? Homeopathy has been helping people recover from PTSD since it was first discovered, even though the phrase PTSD wasn’t coined until nearly 200 years later. Here are some answers to FAQs people have asked about homeopathy and PTSD.
How Long Have Homeopathic Remedies Been Helping PTSD?

Homeopathic Remedy Bottles from long ago.
It seems that everyone is trying to find the cure for PTSD. Some of the remedies that help people suffering from trauma have been around since the time of Samuel Hahnemann, MD. He developed the principals of homeopathy in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s, with his first publication mentioning the word “homeopathic” appearing in 1807.
So Homeopathy has a couple of hundred years of experience and clinical evidence over anything that is currently used to help PTSD in western medicine. Keep that in mind.
Does The Same Homeopathic Remedy Help Everyone Who Has PTSD?
No. In homeopathy, diagnosis does not equal prescription. There are, however, patterns, depending on the source of the PTSD.
Military Personnel

In the PTSD study I conducted, I noted different categories of people who suffer from PTSD. One category is military personnel. This group can be further broken down into two sub categories: those who suffered attacks that resulted in a near death experience, and those who witnessed or felt responsible for the death of others. Within those two categories are generally different remedies. The first is about death, the second about responsibilities.
First Responders
The next category is First Responders, which includes police officers, EMT’s, ER personnel and others whose job it is to help with emergencies. One reason PTSD settles in this group of folks is because they are always seeing people on the worst days of their lives. Imagine having a job where you are always there for only the negative events. Obviously, EMT’s from time to time get to deliver babies, but not much else is joyful, although people who are helped do tend to be grateful. There is definitely overlap on the remedies that help the people this group and the military folks.
Civilians

Then there are Civilians who suffer from PTSD, who can be broken down into three subcategories. First, are the everyday folks who have near death experiences, such as a car accident. Or they witness a death or are responsible for an accidental death. The remedies for the people who fall into this sub category are largely similar to the military personnel who have near death experiences. Next are those who have been on the receiving end of physical or sexual assault. While these remedies can overlap with the first category, there are also many remedies unique to this group. Another sub category in the civilian group is those who fall under Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). This is the most difficult category to treat and there is a WIDE range of remedies that covers CPTSD.
How Does Homeopathy Differ from EMDR?
In homeopathy, we go through a case taking process where discussing in general terms what has happened to you must take place. However, it is not like EMDR, where you are required to relive the trauma over and over again. In homeopathy, we need to know what the emotions and sensations are that you experienced. But reliving the trauma over and over and over is not necessary with homeopathy.
If I Use Homeopathy for PTSD, Can I Quit My Counseling?
That is up to you. I wouldn’t recommend it at first. You may still need it, especially those with CPTSD. But you may find that counseling is more effective with homeopathy alongside it, and you may also discover that you don’t need as long as you would without homeopathy.
Will Homeopathy Help (fill in the blank) That I Have With My PTSD?
PTSD is known for having a long list of co-morbidities. These include, but are not limited to, nightmares, issues with thinking clearly, negative thoughts about the world and oneself, loss of interest in personal activities, liver function problems, fibromyalgia, and many, many more.
One of the great things about using homeopathy to help your PTSD is that one remedy is chosen to help you recover from PTSD and the other symptoms you are currently experiencing. So you can begin to heal much of what bothers you from the start. And you don’t have to take a bunch of medications. Read more about research done on Homeopathy and Fibromyalgia here.
