Homeopathy Can Help Deal With the Emotions of Change

There are few remedies that are readily available that might help you with some of the emotions associated with change.  This may enable you to move through this time of uncertainty and be open to recalibration more quickly.

If you are not familiar with how to take homeopathic remedies, please click here.   For more suggestions about Remedies for this CoVid Time Period, please click here.

Fear of the Unknown

Now that is a good symptom for this time period.  This is a relatively small symptom, but here are a couple ideas:

Arsenicum Album: Anxiety runs deep and wide for this remedy.  Knowing that, it makes sense that people who need Arsenicum would also have some fear of the Unknown.  The other important symptom it covers is Loss of Self Control.  When uncertainty reigns, controlling behaviors often come up because there is a sensation of loss of self-control. Some of this appears in the form of collecting and protecting “stuff”.  If you are afraid of germs, health issues, and generally not knowing what might come next, and you are generally chilly, try a dose of Arsenicum Album 30c.

Aurum Metallicum:  Performing their duty and doing it well is of utmost importance to anyone needing Aurum Metallicum.  So not knowing what is coming up, will you be able to provide for your family, for example, could put someone who is not normally in an Aurum Metallicum state, straight into that fearful condition.  Left too long, depression can develop. And we’ve heard about the increase in thoughts of and attempts at suicide.  This is definitely a remedy to consider if you or someone you know is feeling this way.  Please contact a doctor AND contact Lotus Homeopathy for a more exact choice if suicidal ideation describes you in anyway.

Calcarea Phosphoricum: This is one of the number one whiney kid remedies.  Calcarea is all about protection of the homestead.  Adding the Phosphoricum to it brings in the desire to get out and about, and the whininess.  So if your child is whining about not knowing what will happen with school and “Why can’t I go to school?” (insert whiney voice here), consider this one in a 30c.

Gelsemium:  This is a remedy well-known for cowardliness.  Sadly, it was given to soldiers in the Civil War to give them the courage to return to the battlefield. I recall seeing a very large bottle of it in a Civil War display at one of the Smithsonian Museums nearly 15 years ago. There is a lot of anticipatory anxiety with Gelsemium, so not knowing the future would definitely push the buttons of a person who needs it.  A 30c dose should help.

Grief Associated with Change

Usually we think about grief being associated with the loss of a loved one, but we can grieve a way of life as well.

Ignatia:  Yes, I’ve given many clients doses of Ignatia to move them past the grief that has sprung up when they are feeling a loss due to CoVid 19.  Children could feel this way too.  Consider this remedy if you feel there is a sense of shock, and perhaps are feeling a lump in your throat and cannot stop crying. (Not being able to cry is also a symptom of Ignatia, but usually is paired with the shock of the event.) Forgetfulness associated with grief indicates this remedy. Start with a 30c dose or two.

Natrum Muriaticum:  We normally think of Nat-Mur as a remedy for old grief.  Stuff we held onto for a long time.  Natrum Muriaticum is homeopathic sodium Chloride, so you can imagine the stuffing of feelings that comes along with it.  I would choose Nat-Mur 30c if you were experiencing Grief and Anger, especially Anger that seems old, at the same time. You may also choose to be alone, rather than desiring or mixing with company.

Grief From Financial Loss

Earlier in this article, I mentioned Aurum Metallicum and Arsenicum Album.  They are two of the top remedies for Grieving a loss financially.  Please read more about them above and see if the general picture fits.

Arnica Montana:  The most beloved remedy in the Homeopathic Materia Medica also covers the symptom of Grief from Financial Loss.  How would you know you needed it?  You would likely have the physical symptoms of Arnica, which is a beat up, bruised feeling.  The mental symptom that may fit this situation is a denial that it is a problem.  “I’m fine, really.”  So if someone you know has lost some financial ground in the last few months but denies they are suffering from it, even though you think they are, this would be a good remedy to recommend.  You can just suggest it for the physical symptoms.  It’ll take care of everything else if it is a good match.  A 30c to start with will be fine.

Anger Associated With Anxiety

Once again, Arsenicum Album and Aurum Metallicum show up in this symptom.  So please read about them above.  But Ignatia, Gelsemium, and Natrum Muriaticum are also contenders and are also above.

Belladonna:  Do you get a throbbing headache and a red face when you are angry? Is everyone impacted by your anger?  Do you leave a wide “wake” from getting upset?  If so, Belladonna may be the remedy for you. Definitely start with a 30c, although a 200c may ultimately be needed as this is a rather intense state.

Bryonia:  We often think of Bryonia as a remedy for aches and pains worse from movement.  Well, change is movement, so it is not a surprise that might help when someone is angry about change.  They don’t like being disturbed, and they may have the physical symptoms of Bryonia, where something is painful when they move, especially if this has come on recently.  They prefer to stay home and are concerned about money.  Bryonia can be given in a 30c to start with.

Nux Vomica:  People who need Nux Vomica are very sensitive people, and anger easily. They seek out stimulation. They also have an association with money, so this is an important remedy to consider if someone is drinking a lot, eating a lot and is angry about the changes that are upcoming that might effect their business. Physically, they are chilly and constipated. A 30c dose would help.

Staphysagria:  This is a remedy for suppressed anger.  So if you know you are angry about all the changes that have occurred and will occur, but are trying not to show it, this would be a good remedy to try in a 30c.  There might also be some trembling of the limbs from suppression of anger.

Sulphur:  Sulphur is messy, warm and loves to be the center of attention.  They also have a relationship with money where they might hoard it or spend wildly.  Fear of Poverty is a big symptom for Sulphur, as for Arsenicum.  But Sulphur is warm, whereas Arsenicum is cold. Irritability is common for Sulphur people.

Veratrum Album:  The remedies in the Lily family, to which Veratrum Album belongs, are all about a concern of losing their position in society.  CoVid-19 could have this impact on a lot of people.  So if you or a loved one is concerned about that, and you are chilly and somewhat sweaty, consider a dose or two of 30c.

There Is Hope

I hope that you will find a remedy or two in this article that is helpful for you.  If not, please contact Lotus Homeopathy and schedule an Initial Appointment today to get started on healing tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I will leave you with a quote from Dr. James Hollis (mentioned in Part 1):
“By bearing the unbearable, we go through the desert to arrive at a nurturing oasis we did not know was there.”

Homeopathy is a shortcut through the desert.

Meet Kathryn Berg the Classical Homeopath at Lotus Homeopathy, Inc.

Some of you know me, others of you may have heard of me. And for most, you probably have no clue about me or my business. So I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself, my family, my business, why I am a homeopath and how I became a homeopath—not necessarily in that order.

Like many people, I found out about homeopathy accidentally. I fell down while walking my Akita pup on an icy sidewalk on a typical Minnesota winter day. I was scheduled to go to a friend’s house later that day, so when I did, I asked her for some ice. You need some Arnica, she told me. Arnica? What’s that? She explained that Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for trauma.

At the time, the only place to get homeopathic remedies was a book and herb store in South Minneapolis. So I went there to get some. When I got there, I decided I should read some books so I actually knew what I was doing. I left with the Arnica 30c and three books. By the time I got done reading them, I knew I wanted to be a homeopath.

It was only several years later that I realized that I was attracted to homeopathy as a profession because I am a problem solver. It is what drives me. There is nothing like a well chosen homeopathic remedy to solve problems.

At the time I decided to become a homeopath, there wasn’t even a school here in in Minnesota. But eventually, my homeopath and his business partner started the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy. I was a graduate of the third class. At the time I went there, it was a part time program taking three and a half years! Since then I have studied with numerous other well known and respected homeopaths in continuing education studies.

While I do work with all sorts of folks with a variety of conditions, I really have studied how to treat people suffering from PTSD, health issues related to aging women, and children’s health issues of all sorts, including autism. I have also been successful in removing blockages to healing due to suppression of symptoms by western medicine. I chose those specialties because people really suffer who have those forms of dis-ease, and Western Medicine doesn’t seem to have much of a solution for them.

After over twenty years of practice, I still get excited for clients when a remedy has helped them heal.

So that is about my business. Now, a little bit about me.

I have two adult sons in their early twenties, so I have shed the title of “Soccer mom”. My husband and I are empty nesters living in Woodbury, MN. For fun, I like to play piano, sing, sew, garden, hike, and travel. I am in a community choir. I also enjoy cooking healthy meals and, out of necessity, am an expert at cooking for special diets.
