Homeopathy for the Yard and Garden

by | Sep 18, 2025 | agrohomeopathy, homeopathy for yard and garden

An ornamental crab tree with white blossoms. A couple of months ago, I mentioned in an email that I was attempting to deal with the Apple Scab on my ornamental Crab Trees by using AgroHomeopathy rather than spraying toxic chemicals. So far, I’m impressed with using homeopathy for the yard and garden.

Also promised in that same email, I’m here to catch you up on what I have observed and share my tomato success with you as well.

First, here is an update on the Ornamental Crab Trees. I would call it a success, but still a project in the works. Here’s why.

The leaves definitely have not fallen off as early as normal. Usually by the first of August I have almost no shade from those trees. Here it is, Mid-September and the leaves are about 1/3 gone now. This seems like an appropriate response. I can’t really compare them to other’s trees because I don’t know who has a tree like mine, since the blossoms are gone.

The apple scab stays in the ground from the leaves as they drop. So this weekend, I need to start blowing leaves out and BAGGING them, rather than mowing them and leaving them on the ground. Once all the leaves are off the tree and bagged, then I will spray Homeopathic Sulphur 30c all over the ground around the trees. This will help kill whatever is on the ground and has seeped into the mulch and the soil.

Just a reminder, I used homeopathic Ammonium Carbonicum 30c on the tree. I do not recall why I chose that one over any others.  Perhaps because I already had the remedy. I will update you again on this project next year.

Tomatoes and Agrohomeopathy

Homeopathy can also help with your vegetable garden. Since I tend to grow things that are easy to grow, I haven’t really had to use homeopathy for my garden.  But, having a history of not being able to grow tomatoes, I decided to see what would happen.

An early tomato which developed Blossom End Rot (BER) almost immediately. This is one of the problems I have always had. Once you have one tomato with this problem, they all have it. You can see by the left photo there was a green tomato behind the red one.  I do not recall if that one had begun to develop the BER yet or not.  But the other tomatoes were pretty small at this point.

What causes BER, you might be asking?  There is a belief that it is a lack of Calcium or Calcium and Magnesium.  But it is in fact, the inability of the plant to take up the calcium that is present.  The plants were fertilized with calcium and other organic matter. They still had BER.

To fix this problem, I used homeopathic Calcium Carbonicum 30c (Calc 30c). I dissolved several doses in a spray bottle, shook it really well for about a minute and then sprayed the plants. The remaining remedy got dumped into the dirt.

As you can see by the photo on the right, the later tomatoes did not have BER and they were very tasty.

There are a few other things I will be doing next year for tomatoes.  One is to spray the tomatoes with homeopathic Lycopersicum 12c.  That is homeopathic Tomato.  If I do that right after transplanting the tomatoes, it will make them stronger and hardier and more resistant to other diseases. Homeopathic Silica can help them grow taller and the stems will be stronger. Giving them the Homeopathic Calc will help them to absorb the calcium earlier.

Agrohomeopathy Research

There is a good deal of research being done on Agrohomeopathy, particularly in India and South America.  Below are three examples of current research.

Plants had wider leaf area, produced more leaves during the cycle and had greater root weight.

Meet Kathryn Berg the Classical Homeopath at Lotus Homeopathy, Inc.

Some of you know me, others of you may have heard of me. And for most, you probably have no clue about me or my business. So I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself, my family, my business, why I am a homeopath and how I became a homeopath—not necessarily in that order.

Like many people, I found out about homeopathy accidentally. I fell down while walking my Akita pup on an icy sidewalk on a typical Minnesota winter day. I was scheduled to go to a friend’s house later that day, so when I did, I asked her for some ice. You need some Arnica, she told me. Arnica? What’s that? She explained that Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for trauma.

At the time, the only place to get homeopathic remedies was a book and herb store in South Minneapolis. So I went there to get some. When I got there, I decided I should read some books so I actually knew what I was doing. I left with the Arnica 30c and three books. By the time I got done reading them, I knew I wanted to be a homeopath.

It was only several years later that I realized that I was attracted to homeopathy as a profession because I am a problem solver. It is what drives me. There is nothing like a well chosen homeopathic remedy to solve problems.

At the time I decided to become a homeopath, there wasn’t even a school here in in Minnesota. But eventually, my homeopath and his business partner started the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy. I was a graduate of the third class. At the time I went there, it was a part time program taking three and a half years! Since then I have studied with numerous other well known and respected homeopaths in continuing education studies.

While I do work with all sorts of folks with a variety of conditions, I really have studied how to treat people suffering from PTSD, health issues related to aging women, and children’s health issues of all sorts, including autism. I have also been successful in removing blockages to healing due to suppression of symptoms by western medicine. I chose those specialties because people really suffer who have those forms of dis-ease, and Western Medicine doesn’t seem to have much of a solution for them.

After over twenty years of practice, I still get excited for clients when a remedy has helped them heal.

So that is about my business. Now, a little bit about me.

I have two adult sons in their early twenties, so I have shed the title of “Soccer mom”. My husband and I are empty nesters living in Woodbury, MN. For fun, I like to play piano, sing, sew, garden, hike, and travel. I am in a community choir. I also enjoy cooking healthy meals and, out of necessity, am an expert at cooking for special diets.
