It has been a couple of years since I wrote a blog post about my Word of the Year. But today, I discovered my word of the year by listening to a Joke, of all things. After giving it a lot of thought and even talking about it with the person who shared the joke, I felt like it was a perfect Word of the Year for me!
The Joke
Jess, one of the instructors at the gym at which I work out, has a joke 😜 every week. Usually it is your typical joke. Question with a funny answer, or maybe a play on words. But today the joke was: What is the speed of dark?
That’s it. No funny answer, but a concept to ponder.
It got me thinking…
Dark is the default. Dark takes no energy. It is natural. It is what happens in our lives with no effort. There is no speed of dark. It is always there in the universe. It takes no time to experience it.
Light takes energy. Light uses energy. Light can make energy! Light can give energy to another. Light takes time for us to see it. ☀️
Without light🌞, we do not have life. No photosynthesis, so no plants. If there are no plants, the plant eating animals will not survive. We would have to survive on mushrooms 🍄 and moss!
What Makes a Good Word of the Year?
Most importantly, you have to relate to it.
In addition, it should reflect what you want the next year to be about.
It should have multiple meanings, or multiple ways you can use it in looking forward to the next year.
My Word of the Year for 2026 is…..
In these times of so much darkness in our lives, I want to bring light. I want to be light.
I also want to be lighter. In many ways.
I want to move towards light and away from the darkness.
2026 will be the year I burn the energy to make the world a lighter, brighter place!
What is YOUR word of the Year?
I’ll post this blog on my Facebook Page. Go there and let us know what you have chosen for your Word of the Year for 2026.

Some of you know me, others of you may have heard of me. And for most, you probably have no clue about me or my business. So I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself, my family, my business, why I am a homeopath and how I became a homeopath—not necessarily in that order.
