OWWW! PTSD Hurts!!

by | May 13, 2019 | CPTSD, Depression, fibromyalgia, PTSD

Are you tired of the painful mornings? Do you long for relief while engaging in activities like running, walking, or simply moving around? Dealing with multiple pain points scattered throughout your body can be challenging, making day to day living a daunting task. But what if I told you there’s a solution that can address both Fibromyalgia and PTSD simultaneously? With homeopathy, you can say goodbye to those distressing symptoms and embark on a journey towards recovery, all with a single remedy. Homeopathy Helps Fibromyalgia and PTSD.

What Are All These Pain Symptoms?

Man with sore neck from fibromyalgia and PTSDThe above symptoms, along with a whole list of others, are part of the syndrome known as Fibromyalgia.  And it is really commonly seen with PTSD and CPTSD.  In fact, it is so common, that some people probably receive their Fibromyalgia diagnosis before they get the PTSD diagnosis.

Fibromyalgia, formerly called Fibrositis, isn’t really a “disease”.  It is a conglomeration of symptoms that when added together, doctors call Fibromyalgia. In Homeopathy, we call it dis-ease.

It is often also diagnosed with anxiety, depression and other mental health symptoms.  Fibromyalgia could be considered the physical expression of the mental dis-ease associated with PTSD and CPTSD.  If we can recover from the mental dis-ease, the physical pain can be healed as well. Homeopathy can help Fibromyalgia and PTSD.

Homeopathy Helps Fibromyalgia According to Research

Studies done in England in 1986 and published in the BMJ showed that patients who used homeopathy reported a significant degree of reduction in pain and tender points and improved sleep over those who took the placebo.  Researchers found the significance to be p<.005, which means that there was a 5 in 10,000 chance that the improvement could be attributed to chance. (Fisher P, Greenwood A, Huskisson EC, et al., “Effect of Homoeopathic Treatment on Fibrositis (Primary Fibromyalgia),” BMJ, 299(August 5, 1989):365-6.) (Side note: The lead author of this study, Peter Fisher, MD, was also homeopath to Queen Elizabeth.)

Fibromyalgia and PTSD can be helped with homeopathyIn a more recent study (2004) conducted at the University of Arizona and published in the journal Rheumatology, homeopathy was also shown to significantly improve symptoms of Fibromyalgia.  The study found that 50% of the participants found a 25% or greater improvement of symptoms over a four month period than those on Placebo, which was only 15% improvement.  The significance of this study showed an 8 in 10,000 chance of the improvement being attributed to chance.

Patients who were given the homeopathic remedy rather than the placebo also rated the “helpfulness of the treatment” significantly greater than those given placebo.
(Bell, IR, Lewis, DA, Brooks, DJ, Schwartz, GE, Leis, SE, Walsh, BT, and Baldwin, DM, Improved Clinical Status in Fibromyalgia Patients Treated with Individualized Homeopathic Remedies Versus Placebo, Rheumatology, January 20, 2004:1111-7.)

What Does This Mean in Real Life?

Many years ago, I had a client who sought homeopathic care for her Fibromyalgia.  She had all the usual symptoms: pain better from heat, worse in the morning, better from motion.  She was also on Anti-depressants. This was all caused from a botched medical procedure. Interestingly, her fibromyalgia pain was identical to the pain she used to get once a month from her menstrual cycle, except now, she had the pain all the time instead of a couple days per month.

The fibromyalgia improved pretty quickly, eventually disappearing, as did her asthma. What this meant is that she didn’t have to use a daily inhaler. She only rarely used a rescue inhaler which usually occurred because she was around cats. Eventually, her cat allergies improved as well.  The quality of her life improved dramatically due to homeopathy.

Given the amount of time that has passed from the studies reported above until today, you can imagine that many people have healed their Fibromyalgia and accompanying mental/emotional “dis-ease” using homeopathy.

Meet Kathryn Berg the Classical Homeopath at Lotus Homeopathy, Inc.

Some of you know me, others of you may have heard of me. And for most, you probably have no clue about me or my business. So I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself, my family, my business, why I am a homeopath and how I became a homeopath—not necessarily in that order.

Like many people, I found out about homeopathy accidentally. I fell down while walking my Akita pup on an icy sidewalk on a typical Minnesota winter day. I was scheduled to go to a friend’s house later that day, so when I did, I asked her for some ice. You need some Arnica, she told me. Arnica? What’s that? She explained that Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for trauma.

At the time, the only place to get homeopathic remedies was a book and herb store in South Minneapolis. So I went there to get some. When I got there, I decided I should read some books so I actually knew what I was doing. I left with the Arnica 30c and three books. By the time I got done reading them, I knew I wanted to be a homeopath.

It was only several years later that I realized that I was attracted to homeopathy as a profession because I am a problem solver. It is what drives me. There is nothing like a well chosen homeopathic remedy to solve problems.

At the time I decided to become a homeopath, there wasn’t even a school here in in Minnesota. But eventually, my homeopath and his business partner started the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy. I was a graduate of the third class. At the time I went there, it was a part time program taking three and a half years! Since then I have studied with numerous other well known and respected homeopaths in continuing education studies.

While I do work with all sorts of folks with a variety of conditions, I really have studied how to treat people suffering from PTSD, health issues related to aging women, and children’s health issues of all sorts, including autism. I have also been successful in removing blockages to healing due to suppression of symptoms by western medicine. I chose those specialties because people really suffer who have those forms of dis-ease, and Western Medicine doesn’t seem to have much of a solution for them.

After over twenty years of practice, I still get excited for clients when a remedy has helped them heal.

So that is about my business. Now, a little bit about me.

I have two adult sons in their early twenties, so I have shed the title of “Soccer mom”. My husband and I are empty nesters living in Woodbury, MN. For fun, I like to play piano, sing, sew, garden, hike, and travel. I am in a community choir. I also enjoy cooking healthy meals and, out of necessity, am an expert at cooking for special diets.
